Today’s Seriously! Testing Day began with free donuts in the plaza and an extended 8:02 LIVE show which featured the top GPA students from the Junior and Senior classes as well as a special presentation on multiple choice test talking strategies. Students also received free pizza at lunch. North Pointe’s annually Seriously! Testing Day is designed to provide students an opportunity to take a standardized test prior to the State testing and the SAT and ACT. Grades 7-9 take the PSAT 8/9, grades 10-11 take the PSAT, and Seniors take the practice ACT.
Thank you so much to the JH Piano class! It was fun listening to you play today and we can’t believe how well you are doing only 6 weeks into the semester!
There is no school on Monday, September 4th in observance of Labor Day. Have a fantastic holiday weekend!
Our Anatomy Physiology students started off this week with a dissection. Ms. Gomez wanted students to participate in a hands on lab to get them familiar with the various systems of the body. The Anatomy Physiology students were hard at work and it was great to see them dissecting so early in the school year. Ms. Gomez has so many more exciting labs planned for the class, this is only the beginning!
We have a few things happening on Friday afternoons this year that I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of. First, we have In School Suspension (ISS) that will be taking place on Friday afternoons. Students who receive an ISS during the week will serve it on Friday afternoons from 12:15 pm – 3:30 pm. Additionally, we have Academic Friday School taking place for students who failed a core class last semester. Academic Friday School also takes place from 12:15 pm – 3:30 pm and students who are required to attend were notified during Student Check In last week.
Math placement tests will take place for 7th – 9th grade students on Thursday, 8/3 at 2:45 pm in room 226. Sign up for the math placement tests is taking place in the 4 A Center.
Schedule change forms will be available for students in the 4 A Center on Thursday, 8/3 and they are due back to the 4 A Center on Friday, 8/4. Please keep in mind that not all change request can be fulfilled and we always look at graduation requirements/core class conflicts first.
